For Freedoms was excited to participate in the inaugural edition of PHOTOFAIRS New York, taking place September 8-10th, with a VIP preview by invitation on September 7th. Our booth featured a selection of photography by artists in the inaugural class of For Freedoms Fellows. These fellowships, which provide funding and training from the For Freedoms national network of artists and arts professionals, include collaborative programs like Converse’s Hear Her Here, promoting the work of Black femme creatives, and Google's Image Equity Fellowship supporting early-career image-based creators of color in the US and the expansion of a more equitable field of fine art.
Featured artists include McKayla Chandler, Emanuel Hahn, Eric Hart Jr., Maya June Mansour, and Da'Shaunae Marisa.
